Theft

2024-718

On April 17, 2024 a caller reported that man had stolen two dozen eggs from his hobby farm and drove away, the owner did not seek charges but simply wanted the male to be told not to return to his property. A Lytton RCMP member located the suspect and cautioned him he could be charged with theft however the owner only wished for him to be cautioned.

Assault

2024-722

On April 18, 2024 Lillooet RCMP received a report of an abandoned 911 call from a woman in Lillooet where she was heard yelling in the background. Lillooet RCMP attended the residence and learned a male had thrown a beer at the woman to wake her up. The two were not in a relationship, she was visiting the man, she did not seek charges for the beer thrown. The woman had multiple warrants for her arrest, she was arrested and released on new court date’s for the warrants.

Checkstop Program

On April 18, 2024 Lillooet RCMP members and Stl’atl’imx Tribal Police members conducted a vehicle check stop in Lillooet to check for active drivers licences, vehicle insurance, and driver sobriety. There were approximately 40-50 vehicles checked and two traffic violation tickets were issued.

Assault

2024-746

On April 19, 2024 Lillooet RCMP received a report of 3 young men fighting behind the Lillooet Rec Centre. Upon police arrival there was one teen crying and a large group of teens had scattered in multiple directions. Several other kids had to be separated. One teen who was intoxicated was driven home and released to his guardian. There was no cooperation from victims, nor were there any serious injuries, thus there was no further police action taken.

Theft

On April 22, 2024 a business owner reported a man wearing a puffy tan coat carrying a green backpack had stolen a bottle of alcohol from his store and left on a bicycle. A Lillooet RCMP member attended and looked at the CCTV footage and obtained a still image of the suspect. Police later located the suspect matching the description and arrested him for theft. He gave up the stolen unopened bottle of alcohol and agreed to apologize to the owner. He was transported back to the business where he apologized to the owner and was told he was not allowed back there again. The owner was satisfied with the outcome and did not seek charges.

Mental Health Act

2024-789

On April 25, 2024 Lillooet RCMP received a 3rd party report of a youth that intended to commit suicide. Stl’atl’imx Tribal police located the youth at a bridge in Lillooet. The youth was spoken to by police and convinced to get off the bridge, he was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to the hospital where he was assessed by a Doctor and to seek further assessments/treatment. There was no further police involvement.

Assault

2024-823

On April 29, 2024 Lillooet RCMP received a report of a naked man running around near the Esso in Lillooet, possibly being chased by someone. The naked man was located and was uncooperative with police, he did not disclose if he had been in a fight despite having visible injuries related to a fight. The man was assessed by BC Ambulance Service. There was no further police involvement.

Explosives Act

2024-840

On May 2, 2024 a hired home inspector reported what appeared to him to possibly be an explosive device in an empty home he was contracted to do a walk through. Lillooet RCMP attended and located the possible explosive device with ammunition and empty cartridges sitting next to a gun safe. The items were believed to be from the previous home owner left in the safe. The RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) attended and removed the possible explosive and disposed of it. There were no further concerns for public safety.

Uttering threats

2024-842

On May 2, 2024 a caller reported that her daughter had called her and threatened to beat her up if she did not return several hundred dollars that she owed her. A Lytton RCMP member attended and learned that there was a family dispute over child care/rent from which the dispute over the money arose. The matter did not reach the threshold to proceed with criminal code charges. The daughter was cautioned and the mother was advised to contact police if any further concerning communication was made.
