Emergency crews responded to a collision on Highway 97 where a pickup truck caught fire.

On October 24, 2023 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Quesnel RCMP along with Ambulance and the Fire Department responded to a collision on Highway 97 south of Quesnel. A pickup truck travelling north bound on the Highway veered off the road striking a hydro pole. The vehicle caught fire shortly after the driver exited the vehicle. There were no other passengers in the vehicle at the time of the collision. The man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Fire crews on scene were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

"The road was closed temporarily while fire crews worked, but is now open in both directions," says Sgt. Clay Kronebusch.
