Mischief to worksite results in $6000 worth of damage

On February 20, 2024, Powell River RCMP received a report that mischief to the worksite located on the pole line between Joyce Avenue and Fernwood Street had been committed over the long weekend.

A new roadbed that includes cement curbs had just been poured and the cement was still hardening.
Some time over the long weekend, several quads and dirt bikes had disregarded signage and fencing in the area and had driven over the hardening curbs.

The cost to replace the damaged section of cement is approximately $6000.

Suspects arrested during Lois Lake Fish Farm break and enter

On February 19, 2024, at approximately 1:45am, Powell River RCMP responded to a break and enter in progress at the Lois Lake Fish Farm.

An employee had received an alert on their phone and observed real time video surveillance which showed three suspects breaking into the Fish Farm and loading their truck with several stolen items.

Police intercepted the vehicle as it was leaving the area and all three suspects were arrested for Break and Enter.

The truck and all its contents were seized by police.

After investigation, additional charges include Driving while Prohibited and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The suspects were released to appear in Provincial Court.

Stolen Vehicle involved in collision on Highway 101

On February 16, 2024, Powell River received a request from Powell River Fire Rescue to attend the 9100 block of Highway 101 for a single vehicle rollover collision.

Police attended an observed that a Ford Escape had left the roadway and gone through a residential fence, landing on its side on the property.

No one was located in the vehicle or in the area.

After investigation, it was determined that the vehicle had been stolen from the AC/DC Welding lot on Reave Rd.
