2023-2721 / 2708 – Check stops

On June 10 and 12, 2023 Sea to Sky Whistler and Pemberton RCMP set up check stops on Hwy 99 at Park Street, in Pemberton, and Hwy 99 and Blueberry Drive, in Whistler. Members checked approximately 160 vehicles between the two check stops. 3 roadside breath demands were made and one violation ticket was issued in Whistler. No violation tickets were issued or driver impairment was observed in Pemberton.

2023-2709 – Impaired driving suspension

On June 11, 2023 Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP observed a driving infraction that led to a roadside stop. The driver of the vehicle, an N driver who was not a resident of Whistler, provided a sample of breath which led to a 12-hour suspension from driving.

2023-2684 / 2688 / 2702 – Erratic driving complaints

Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP took a number of reports of driving complaints, including vehicles failing to stop for pedestrians at cross walks and vehicles travelling too close to bicycles on the roadway. On June 6, 2023 an erratic driver was reported to the Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP after it was observed crossing double-solid lines and excessively speeding. This driver, who was not a local resident of the Sea to Sky corridor, was issued a violation ticket for driving without consideration.

2023-2634 / 2644 / 2645 / 2646 – Theft of recreation equipment

On June 6, 2023 police received a number of reports of bikes and a paddleboard, among other items, stolen from vehicles, residences and sheds. These thefts are being investigated in conjunction with a break and enter to a residence.

2023-2651 / 2704 – The bears of Whistler

Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP received a number of calls relating to bears in various areas of Whistler. In most cases, the bears were just being bears, and doing normal bear things like wandering around. In one report, the individual who reported the bear believed the bear to be a grizzly. Members attended and confirmed that the bear was not a grizzly.

2023-2657 / 2669 – Mischief

On June 7 and 8, 2023 police received two reports of mischief. In one case two individuals were caught on video surveillance spraying graffiti at a local hotel. There is no information at this time to confirm the incidents are connected, however both are still under investigation.
