Welcome to the Mission RCMP Community Connection for the week of February 26 – March 3, 2024

Here’s a snapshot of some of the work we did that week:

A white 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 dually was stolen from Bobcat Driver on the night of March 1-2. The truck was a diesel, and was in very good condition, with orange cab lights, and chrome accents. Anyone who sees this truck around is asked to contact Mission RCMP, 604-826-7161.

On the morning of February 27, a male walked into a kinesiology clinic on 1st Avenue in Mission, entered a staff room, and fled with a number of the staff members’ personal effects. Witnesses followed the male at a distance and provided updates on his location to a 911 dispatcher. Mission RCMP officers caught up with the male in a trail network near the Mission Library. The male made threats and fought back, but officers were quickly able to get him into custody. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the rightful owners. The male was held in custody, and police recommended charges of theft, uttering threats, and breaching a Conditional Sentence Order in relation to a previous offence for which the male had already been arrested. Mission RCMP appreciate the information provided by the witnesses, which helped to locate the male.

A possible impaired driver was reported on the evening of February 28, after a witness observed a female stumbling as she got into her vehicle, then observed the vehicle speeding and swerving along Cedar Street. A Mission RCMP officer located the vehicle in a parking lot along London Avenue, with the female still in the driver’s seat. The 19-year-old female provided breath samples that produced a Warn reading on a roadside screening device, resulting in the driver being issued a 3-day driving prohibition and a vehicle impound.

Six other impaired drivers were taken off the roads in just over four hours on the night of March 1:

On March 1, shortly after 11 pm, an officer stopped a blue Ford Fusion in the area of Lougheed Highway and Cedar Street, after it was observed driving without tail lights on, and driving in the middle of the lane. The vehicle pulled over, but the driver fled into a wooded area nearby. Evidence in the car indicated that it was being used for drug trafficking. The investigation is ongoing.
