File # 22-9671

Around 3:15 am on August 21, Mission RCMP were called to Hwy 7 east of the Deroche Bridge, after a head-on collision.  Officers arrived to find that a Chevrolet Cavalier had collided head-on into a small privately-owned camperized bus.  The driver and passenger in the Cavalier were seriously injured, while the occupants of the bus were injured to a lesser extent.

"The initial evidence in this investigation indicates that the Cavalier was travelling in the wrong lane at the time of the collision," says Constable Harrison Mohr with Mission RCMP.  "The driver of the Cavalier sustained serious and possibly life-altering injuries, and is being investigated for driving while impaired."

Mission RCMP's Traffic Services unit, as well as the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) attended the scene.  As a result of the investigation, Hwy 7 was closed in the area and was expected to re-open by about 10 am on March 21.

"This was a tragic night for everyone involved.  Bottom line - don't drink and drive.  People get hurt.  It's just not worth it."

Any witnesses who have not yet come forward should contact Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
