Sledder suffers life threatening injuries

On March 2nd, 2023, at 3:40 p.m., the Sicamous RCMP Detachment received a report of a sledding accident in the Kingfisher Creek area, along the Owlhead trail.

A 46-year-old man visiting from Quebec was found unresponsive by those in his group who found him. The group had been separated for a period before locating him unconscious near a tree. It is believed the man had accidentally collided with the tree.

While waiting for Shuswap Search and Rescue, members of the group carried out immediate life-saving assistance to the man, including CPR.

The man was brought down the mountain and transferred into the care of BC Ambulance paramedics.

The man was taken to Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm, with serious, life-threatening injuries.

No criminality is suspected.
