File # Mission 2017-4388
On April 25th, 2017 at 5pm, RCMP dispatch received a report of an erratic driver who was talking on his cell phone, traveling from Maple Ridge into the Mission area. After checking the vehicle, Mission RCMP was advised that the vehicle was flagged as stolen.
Police responded to the area to prepare to stop the vehicle. An initial traffic stop was conducted in the Silverdale area, as the driver responded by fleeing the area in the vehicle.
A secondary traffic stop was conducted along the Lougheed Highway, resulting in the driver ramming stationary Police vehicles while attempting to evade Police.
The suspect male fled from the stolen vehicle and into a nearby wooded area. LMD Police Dog Services located the male, who was arrested without further incident.
Three Police vehicles were damaged during this incident and four Members received minor injuries and are expected to recover over the coming days.
The suspect is known to Police and remains in custody as the investigation is ongoing.
Due to the heavy volume of traffic there are expected to be several witnesses to this incident. We are pleased that no one from the public was injured as a result of the actions of the driver. Police are encouraging anyone who may have information or recordings that might assist in the investigation to call the Mission RCMP Major Crimes Unit, who has conduct of this investigation. [Cst.
